Frequently Asked Questions

Check here for some common questions we have been asked.

Am I too old to learn dance?

Not at all! We work with adult dancers of all ages.  All of our programs are designed for grown-up bodies and minds.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing any kind of tight fitting athletic wear, such as yoga pants and a tank top.  Of course you can’t go wrong with tights a leotard and skirt!  But that decision is up to you and your comfort level.  The key is that your instructor needs to see the form of your body to ensure proper alignment and technique.

For footwear you may wear socks or bare feet, but we prefer  for our students to wear ballet slippers.

Do I need to put my hair in a bun?

No, but we do recommend it being pulled back and out of your face.

If I'm under 18 years old can I still take classes with Tournesol Dance?

Unfortunately at this time group classes are only for dancers 18+,  however we do offer private lessons to dancers under 18 years old.

Is the Beginner Ballet Debut Program really 3 hours long?

Yes, however you are not dancing for the full 3 hours!  There is a lot of information to cover in this program and we want you to have enough time to process it and not feel rushed.  We know it sounds like a long time, but trust us the time will fly by!

Do I need to bring anything to class?

We always suggest to bring a water bottle, we do get sweaty!  Other things you may need depending on the class you are taking, shoes for class, a yoga mat, and a Thera band.
